Contain this!

What is your dream home? It could be a mansion, cottage, beach house, or city loft. I’m going to let you in on a little secret…my/our (Ian is totally in agreement with this) dream home is…drumroll please…a container home!

Now, you may ask what is a container home? Retired shipping containers are being repurposed and converted into homes, workshops, treehouses, and still storage units (but on land). The last I heard we would be able to build an 8 foot wall around the equator with all the shipping containers – two times! Why not make them useful?

I am a huge fan of color, and I find these containers absolutely stunning. The possibilities are endless.

Having a home that is completely customizable is what I want. As children we both loved playing with lego toys and it seems fitting that this would be the style home that we now want, one that we can make totally ours. Not only are they super intriguing but you can also determine the cost of your home since the containers are relatively affordable.

Hold them dishes.

This is a corner in our dining room. We don’t have a hutch for our fancy dishes, but a $5 garage sale white bookshelf works just fine! We gave a set of vintage brass candlesticks some life by painting them white and a pair of bright candlesticks. My friendly little airplant keeps them company.  A $2 frame from Goodwill contains an abstract display of paint swatches. A super cheap way to bring a pop of color into a room (you can even swap out the paint swatches seasonally).

How do you store your formal dishes (and/or china)?
