This or That: DIY Succulent Pots

Does anyone else get into color kicks? Let me explain. You see a color and/or combination. You start to pin a bunch of things that reflect this. You start to buy things and notice, “hey, this is the same color I’ve been obsessing over!” Slowly, but surely you realize that your apartment, clothes, accessories are all orange, or blue, or black and you can react in one or two ways: 1. Change – you begin to say, “No more [insert color here].” 2. You embrace it. You realize you struck gold.

I am out of denial. I realized that a lot of my accessories are in this orangey-red color. I don’t hate it. I’m not sick of it. But, I think I want to transition to more of a classic look. The cycle is repeating and I’m gravitating towards white, black, and pops of metallics. Do I sound like a broken record? If I do I’m sorry!

So here is today’s dilemma. Do I take the first way: Change. Or do I embrace it? Today I present an example of this – my succulent pots.

This is what they currently look like:

Cute right? Well, one got a makeover and now I can’t decide. If I add 1 more coat of paint there is no going back. So do I try for black + gold? Behold:

I would also like to state that I bought these succulents back in June. That’s right – they are still alive. I finally found an apartment plants thrive in!¬†

Color Emphasis: Black + Cream

Today’s Color Emphasis features one of my favorite color combinations…black and cream. Classy, understated and timeless:

color emphasis series by bedsidesign featuring a roundup of black and cream items

one: Black + cream + hearts + cardigan = what’s more to love?

two: The shape, the style, the size heel, and the color blocking. Yes to it all!

three: What a petite makeup bag. The bow makes it extra feminine.

four: Classic and bold, this stripe pillow would be perfect in our living room.

five: A color blocked server? Imagine the pretty food to be served on this!

six: Peter Pan built-in collar and a dress under $30? This would be such a cute dress to wear on a date.

seven: And if you are going on a date you don’t need to get all matchy-matchy but a nice silk tie would be just fine boi.

eight: It’s getting cold here, which means I now have an excuse for my scarf obsession. Little bits of metallic woven through this makes it extra special.

Color Emphasis: ORANGE with a lil black

Halloween is tomorrow and instead of filling up the Color Emphasis with a bunch of Halloween I decided to just highlight the color palette. My decor style is much more passive than decorating for a ton of holidays. I prefer to wear or decorate with colors and objects that can last longer than just a 1 day holiday. Here are some of my favorite orange items with little pops of black here and there.

From a super sassy top to a textured rug the top-tier look stylish and comfortable. And now for the eclectic accessories. Coffee is a big deal in our home and this cute [and super affordable] french press would certainly add a great burst of color in our kitchen. Who says your trash has to be boring? Why not use it as an opportunity to add some style, like this little guy. Makin’ food? Make it in this spiffy skillet. Orange, gold, and black sunglasses? Do they really need any explanation? I’ve always loved pin-tuck pillows and this burst of orange is a ¬†perfect shade. In my opinion Pantone never goes out of style. And last but certainly not least, taking a trip? Even your passport should be dressed to impress.

Are you crushing on orange?
